Do I need to place the Subpod in sunlight or can it be placed in a shaded area?

Do I need to place the Subpod in sunlight or can it be placed in a shaded area?

The Subpod will be fine in a shaded area, you will just need to choose plants that are suitable for shady conditions.  If the Subpod is in a sunny position you will need to choose plants that like the sun :)
If your area has hot summers, placing your Subpod in the shade will keep your worms at a more comfortable temperature during those hot months.  Most composting worms thrive at soil temperatures between 20 and 28 C ( 68 to 82 F).  If you need to build a shade structure over your Subpod and garden bed, please have a look at this article here:

If the soil is cooler, they will just slow down and be fine as long as the ground does not freeze.  If the soil heats above 35C (95F) they will start to die.  Don’t worry, even if you have some hot days, the soil will stay cooler than the air temperature, so by using your in-ground Subpod, your worms will do better than above-ground systems in hot weather.
